A long time ago, probably in elementary school, you studied the color wheel. It was a way for you to put a word—green, for example—next to a hue you recognized.
But the color wheel serves another important function. It’s a guide for all of us to determine what colors work well together, and what color combinations may impart specific emotions.
For example, purple and yellow are directly across from each other on the color wheel, making them complementary colors. They’re vibrant and should be used in small doses; otherwise the effect can be overwhelming.
